New Year's Resolution Suggestion
New Year’s Resolutions
2019 is upon us and undoubtedly there will be a multitude of resolutions made over the coming weeks. Sadly, most of these resolutions will not make it past the first month or so, as we settle back into our normal routines. Different theories exist on how many days in a row you need to do something before it becomes a habit, from 21 days to 12 weeks according to an internet search. Certainly some resolutions are more difficult to keep than others. For example, a new diet requires a change in food purchases, food preparation, having to deal with cravings, eating less, etc. Likewise, starting to exercise requires finding extra hours every week to head to the gym or out for a walk. These changes in lifestyle can be costly and/or time consuming and are simply not easy!
A great New Year’s resolution to make this year is to become a daily flosser! It is extremely cheap… either use the free floss we give out, or spend a few dollars on floss picks at the supermarket (they look like mini slingshots). It is extremely quick… 1-2 minute per day. It is extremely beneficial… healthier gums, better breath, easier dental visits (no lectures!), and it even reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke. Resolutions do not get better than this!
And for those of you who already floss daily, good job! Now make a vegetable smoothie and head to the gym to sign up for a spinning class.
Happy New Year!
