Your First Visit
Thank you for choosing Wahlers Family Dentistry! We welcome all patients, whether you are new to the area, haven’t seen a dentist in a while, or just looking for a new office. We participate with many insurance plans, but also care for patients without insurance. In fact, due to our reasonable fees and quality care, a large percentage of our patients either do not have insurance, or choose to come to us even though we are out of network with their plan. Everyone is welcome, no exceptions!
What To Expect
If there is not a dental emergency, your initial appointment with us will typically consist of an examination and cleaning, along with any recommended X-rays to check for problems that cannot be seen with a visual inspection. We will discuss all findings with you, and if there is any recommended treatment also explain our recommendations.
Some patients that have a specific dental issue prefer have Dr. Wahlers treat their area of immediate need, rather than start with a cleaning and checkup. If you have a problem that needs to be addressed quickly, we can typically have you in for an emergency appointment within a few days of contacting us.
What To Do Prior To Your First Visit
Prior to your first visit, we will ask you to fill out two forms on our website: a new patient form and a medical information form. If you need help or prefer to fill them out in our office, our team members are happy to help you fill them out 20-30 minutes prior to your first appointment.
Items to gather prior to filling out your New Patient Forms and to bring with you:
- Any recent dental x-rays (we can request them if you cannot obtain a copy)
- The name of your previous dentist, if applicable
- A list of any medications you are taking and their doses, including over-the-counter drugs
- A list of all current medical conditions
- photo ID and any dental insurance cards or information you may have
- Optional: bring along a list of any concerns or questions about your oral health. Having things written down can help you to remember what to ask when you are here
Please be sure to let us know before your first visit if you have a serious medical conditions or special needs so that we can be prepared.
